If you read my posts The Best Valentine’s Day Date Ideas and 10 Valentine’s Day Date Night Looks then you know A) I am all about this holiday, and B) the hubs and I had dinner reservations planned at a new restaurant we’ve been wanting to try for this Valentine’s Day.
Welp, our 2 year old just came down with another cold (Thanks school!😡) and so did mommy. So that means we’ll be staying in this Valentine’s Day.
Which got me thinking…just because we’re stuck at home like a couple of lepers doesn’t mean we can’t have all kinds of fun and celebrate the holiday.
So here’s a list of some fun ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day if you’ll be spending the day/evening with your little ones too. From easy to a little more effort, and everything in between, these are some sure fire ways to be festive this holiday!
Fun Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day With Kids
Bake Cookies
Kids and cookies, need I say more? If you have little little ones then you’ll need some patience for this one. Best advice is not to be a perfectionist and give your little one small tasks like handing them a small bowl of sugar to add to the mixer (not flour unless you want it to end up everywhere BUT the mixer 😂). Let loose though and have fun. If your xo’s come out looking like deformed pretzels, so what! 🤷🏻♀️😉 Click here for a great, easy sugar cookie recipe.
Decorate A Valentine’s Day Keepsake Box
If your little one is in preschool or older then they’re definitely going to be bringing home some super cute Valentine’s cards & gifts. Help your little one save those sweet treasures by making a cute keepsake box. Walmart or any craft store will have some inexpensive ready to decorate boxes. Grab some glue and glitter (and/or paint) and let your little one have at it. Just make sure to lay down some newspaper or an old sheet for easy clean up 😉
Make A Valentine’s Day Card
How much would your spouse or Grandma & Grandpa love a handmade Valentine’s card from your little munchkins? So much! Get some crafting paper, stickers & glitter and help your little one create the perfect card.
Play Valentine’s Day Themed Games
Tic tac toe is fun & easy for kiddos to play. Make it Valentine’s Day themed by using cookie cutters shaped as X’s And O’s (or hearts and circles).
Make A Valentine’s Day Themed Breakfast
Heart shaped pancakes, anyone? They’re actually pretty easy to make. Ever watch those Tasty videos where they create all these awesome shaped pancakes using a squirt bottle? Yea, that’s all you need. Get your batter down to a runnier consistency for ease of use. Or, I hear you can use a cookie cutter too 🤔
Surprise Them With Balloons
Kids love balloons! Am I right or am I right? So why not surprise them on Valentine’s Day morning with a bouquet of heart shaped ones? Or get plain ones in different Valentine’s Day colors. Sneak into their room while they’re still sleeping or tape them to the outside of their door. Either way, they’ll love it!
Pizza Night
My family LOVES making pizzas! So I just think how cute would it be to make a heart shaped one? And you can have your littles help by adding the sauce and/or put toppings on.
Don’t have time to make the dough from scratch? No prob! You can buy it from the grocery store or from your fave pizza joint.
Don’t have the time to make pizza? That’s ok too because you can order one for delivery. Pizza Hut is known for their heart shaped pizzas.
Ice Cream Social
Grab your little one’s favorite flavored ice cream and have them top it with some heart shaped sprinkles or gummies for a cute & sweet Valentine’s Day treat.
No matter what you do, it’s all about making memories with your sweet little munchkins. I wish you all the happiest Valentine’s Day!
XO, Jules
