I LOVE Valentine’s Day! There, I said it! Seriously, though. What’s not to love about Love Day? Hearts galore, extra snuggles & kisses, chocolate covered strawberries, bunches and bunches of roses…it’s such a pretty little “holiday” (can I call it a holiday?).
And yes, I know we don’t NEED a holiday to celebrate love with our significant others, but it’s like all the other holidays….do we need a specific day in order to spend time with those we love? Or to be thankful? Or to give presents? Nope, but when Thanksgiving and Christmas come around we get just a little more gushy. So to me, Valentine’s Day is no different.
We trade off every year with spending Valentine’s Day night alone versus with the kids. Although, we still do something special with the kiddos in the A.M. But, afterwards it’s all about the adults (wink wink).
My babers (hubby) and I have been together going on 11 years now so needless to say we’ve celebrated many a Valentine’s Day. From day trips to the beach to 12 course dinners, and everything in between. But I thought I’d share with you my favorite ways we’ve celebrated Love Day.
The Best Valentine’s Day Date Ideas
Picnic
At your favorite park, beach, your backyard or even your living room floor. Pack a yummy meal, a great bottle of wine and you’re good to go!
Day Trip to the Beach
If you live near or in driving distance of a beach town, a day at the beach is a great way to spend your time together. Even if it’s chilly, bundle up and indulge in all that the beach town has to offer (check out the local shops, eateries, pier, etc.). Exploring things together is a great way to connect and have fun.
Play Bartender
Spend your night playing Mixologist by coming up with crazy new concoctions. Add a friendly wager like whoever creates the better cocktail has to give the other a massage (or has to wash the dishes.. whatever you’re in to lol). Just make sure food is involved. A fun night can lead to a nasty next morning #hangovercentral
Wine Taste
Now you knew this one was gonna be on the list 😉 Grab your lover and hit a local Tasting Room. OR, if it’s in the budget, hire a driver to take you to wine country where you can taste at a couple of wineries (another day trip idea). OR, if wine isn’t your thing, do a beer tasting at a near-by brewery.
Dinner Out
Whether it’s your favorite little hole in the wall, a restaurant you’ve been dying to try, or a fancy steak house, get dressed up and hit the town!
Dinner In
Play chef! Grab your favorite recipe and cook with or for your loved one. OR, if it’s in the budget, hire a private chef so you both can kick up your feet and enjoy being pampered.
Take a Cooking Class
Don’t know how to cook? Take a class together! You’ll have a blast and eat some culinary yumminess in the process.
Spa Day
Enjoy a nice relaxing couples massage together. Or, if that’s not in the budget, a couples’ mani/pedi is nice and relaxing too.
Hike
Are you both fitness junkies? A hike is the perfect way to spend love day as it will give you both ample time together, talking and laughing, all while working up a sweat. Try a new trail for a change of scenery.
Sky Dive
Are you the adventurous kind of couple? A day spent floating through the skies may be just the ticket for a fun filled Valentine’s Day. Make sure to plan it well in advance!
Game Night
Are you both the competitive type? Turn Valentine’s Day into a fun game night. Just remember, it’s friendly competition. Don’t go getting into a spat over who gets Park Place in Monopoly (you know who you are😉 lol).
Whatever you decide to do, I hope you both leave your stresses at the door, put your phones away, and truly enjoy each other’s company. That’s what Valentine’s Day is really about. Happy love day, babes!
