Happy Hallo-Wine!!! It’s my favorite time of year…Halloween! I am so excited for all things spooky and fun. Throw some wine in there and we got ourselves a REAL good time! ::Insert this haunted blind wine tasting party::😜
Ok…no, it’s not really a party that’s haunted. As a matter of fact, no ghosts were involved in the making of this party (but they could be. Feel free to change up the decor with whatever horrifying things you like. Skulls, spiders, faux body parts..the world’s your oyster!). The point is that it truly feels like a fun and spooky themed party…that also happens to be about wine. Win win in my book!
This particular blind tasting was actually my third wine party I had ever thrown. I was so excited to switch up the Christmas theme I had done the year prior for Halloween. This is my fave holiday (yes, probably because it’s also my birthday…I’m bias, it is what it is, people!). I love that everyone gets dressed up, scared up, and f……I mean, wine’d up? 😂
This haunted blind wine tasting party was such a blast. I love wine tasting parties in general (I’m sure you know this by now), because I love wine (duh!) and because it’s such a fun time for your guests to try out wine they never would’ve on their own. Or, a chance for them to try a type of wine they didn’t think they liked. I thought I hated Zinfindel…turns out, I don’t…who would’ve thunk it!
And, that’s the thing. There’s always an element of surprise. Every time I do one of these blind wine tasting parties, we’re always surprised at which brand ends up being our favorite. And I love that! Way better than just a regular ol’ wine tasting, IMO.
THE DECOR
And decorating for this party was a blast in itself. All the decor I got from Home Goods and the dollar store. This party was from my pre-blog years so I forgot to add the cute skull plates on top of the black plates to complete my place settings (rookie mistake…I know, please go easy on me). But, I feel like I redeemed myself with the black roses, snakes, and skulls I placed in my centerpiece. And not to mention all of the candles…LOTS of candles. Is it just me or do most “haunted” movies always involve a ridiculous amount of tapered candles?🤔
Speaking of place settings, I set out enough glasses for each type of wine we would be trying (per person). I also put out water cups and a dump bucket out on the table jussssst incase we came across a wine we didn’t like (which we didn’t…surprise surprise lol).
THE GRUB
To soak up all that wine yumminess, I baked off some super easy apps right before the party started. Homemade pizza bread, cranberry brie bites, cucumbers with herb cream cheese, antipasto skewers, and crostini with gorgonzola & grapes. And, of course, I had a cheese board because what’s a wine party without the cheese…am I right?
If you’re looking for a fun, new way to enjoy this scary holiday, throw your own haunted blind wine tasting party. If you don’t like spooky, no prob Bob! Just omit the skulls, spiders, snakes…and anything else that nightmares are made of.
