If you’ve been here for awhile, then you know I love my Blazers…like borderline OBSESSED! They’re not too heavy (like a jacket) and not too casual (like a cardigan). They’re simply my absolute favorite thing to wear. I love dressing them up and dressing them down.
Pretty much anyway I feel like to fit my mood or where I’m going. IMO, they’re an absolute closet staple for so many reasons. You can style a blazer for casual wear, for a night out or a special occasion, for work…for ANYTHING!
The come in all different lengths. I have some that fall just above my hips that I prefer to wear with pencil skirts and slacks for work. My longer blazers are great for wearing with shorts, rompers, or mini dresses because they’re the perfect length to cover my behind. I have some medium length ones too, that go great with slacks or jeans. But honestly, you can wear pretty much any blazer with any bottom. They just work!
Another plus, blazers come in different fits, too. Boyfriend style, fitted, and oversized are just a few (which you’ll see below). They also come in a bajillion different colors and patterns, which I’m sure is what contributes to my obsession. But, it’s important to have the basics. The reason I can easily style a blazer is because I have a few that are in basic, neutral colors like black and white.
Which is worth mentioning and I’ll tell you why. These neutral colors compliment any patterned or solid colored top, bottom, dress, or romper. Hence, why they’re considered neutral colors. And, with these neutral colors, you can make an endless amount of outfits just by switching up whatever you’re wearing underneath them.
You can also change up how dressy or casual you want your outfit to look just by switching up your shoes too. I sport my blazers with jeans and tennis all the time. When I want to look a little more dressed up, I’ll just switch out those tennis for heels or booties. If I’m going to work, I’ll put on my go-to pumps. You can definitely stretch your wardrobe by wearing the exact same outfit, but with different shoes.
If you’re like “ehhhhh, not sure about that, Jules”. Let me show you!
Here’s 40 Ways To Style A Blazer
With Slacks & Skirts For Work
I love shorter blazers with pencil skirts because they help to accentuate and flatter your figure. Slacks are easy peasy because they look amazing with any kind of blazer. For tops, anything works. The ones I’m wearing here are camis, sleeveless, and long sleeves (so basically, anything).
With Jeans
I think you can tell by all the photos I’ve posted in this section that I REALLY love to style a blazer with jeans LOL Perfect for casual Fridays, for spiffing up jeans and tennis, for an easy date night look or a happy hour with the girls…it’s seriously the easiest way to style a blazer (Well, I mean, besides for work….but, work is boring, so lets talk more about date nights and happy hours). The look great with any top top and any shoe. Truly the most versatile.
With Shorts & Rompers
Shorts and rompers are another easy way to style a blazer. Any type of shorts work too, not just a nicer material, but denim cutoffs look AH-mazing with blazers! And rompers are my jam, you guys know this, I wear them allll the time. So, naturally, I’d pair them with a blazer. TIP: Opt for a longer blazer for coverage and belt your rompers to define your waist.
With Dresses & Jumpsuits
Just as easy as it is to style a blazer with a romper, it’s even easier to style them with maxi dresses and jumpsuits. Similar to shorts and rompers, with shorter dresses, I tend to wear a longer blazer for balance and coverage. For maxi’s and jumpsuits I prefer a short blazer to help flatter and accentuate my figure. But honestly, you could even wear a longer blazer and be super cute! It’s all good in the hood!
That’s it for now, but I will be either updating this post or doing a part II to show you some more spring specific ways to wear a blazer. Cutoffs really are so cute with a blazer, but I haven’t had a chance to photo them so I definitely I shall be getting on that one.
