Hey Lovelies,
This year my dear friend asked me if I would help decorate her new home. She was having trouble finding her style and needed direction. Her old house had the browns and the reds which she loved back then, but had grown so tired of now. I asked her how she envisioned her new home and she said “Not brown and red!” Haha. So we did a walk through and we talked about current trends like farmhouse, modern, industrial, etc. She really couldn’t decide which one she liked most, so she asked me if I would take the reigns. So I am doing just that! Instead of decorating the whole house at one time, I am decorating one room at a time, and thought it would be fun to bring you guys along for the process. For this post, I’m showing you how the main area of her living room was styled when she moved in and how its gone from drab to fab. Below you’ll also find all the deets like where the furniture was purchased. And even what color paint we chose for her walls.
Here are the details of how this living room went from drab to fab!
THE BEFORE:
Her house had so many different colors on the walls. Orange, yellow, maroon (just to name a few). And all the furniture was very dark and bulky making the space appear much smaller than it actually is.
THE AFTER:
Like night and day, right?
Now the room is so much brighter. And as a result, looks that much bigger. I love mixing different styles and textures like the classic tufted furniture with the more modern coffee table and the distressed chic wall mirror. I used the brown side tables to break up all of the off white/cream color and to play off the legs of the ottomans. Gold is mimicked in the floor lamp, the base of the table lamp, the coffee table and the photo frame. Shades of blue from the rug are reflected in the accent pillows. The very light blue walls add a calming affect to the space (almost spa like). This overall color scheme is one of my favorites. I love how bright and airy it makes a space. And needless to say, my friend loves it!
Leave a comment below and let me know what you guys think! Also, I am currently finishing up the nook in her living room so stay tuned for my next post on that. 😉
